Caucasus Heritage Watch

CHW is a research initiative founded in 2020 by CIAMS Professors Lori Khatchadourian and Adam T. Smith at Cornell in collaboration with Ian Lindsay at Purdue University. CHW uses tasked satellite image captures to monitor endangered cultural heritage in the South Caucasus with a current focus on the region of Nagorno-Karabakh. CHW also conducts historical analyses of heritage erasure in the region. Our purpose is to encourage accountability, inform public policy, support truth and reconciliation, and remove cultural heritage from the front lines of regional conflicts.
