Overview
Olivia earned a BA in Archaeology and the Ancient World and the History of Art and Architecture from Brown University. Her research interests focus on art production in ancient Rome through archaeological, archaeometric, art historical, and literary analyses. At Cornell, Olivia hopes to study the seasonality of villa construction and redecoration through pigment and phytolith analysis. This research will build on her senior thesis Pigments and Prestige: Tracing Economic and Material Networks in the Production of Roman Wall Paintings at the Vacone Villa, which examined the economic implications of pigments used at the Vacone villa.
Olivia’s field experiences include the Upper Sabina Tibernia Project in Vacone, Italy and the S’Urachi Project in Sardinia, Italy. She has also held an internship with the Rhode Island School of Design Museum of Art.
